19th Century Chinese Cloisonne Vase - Finely Decorated- Qing Dynasty-Damaged.:
$69.18
I bought this vase in the 1990\'s, despite the damage, because it is a fine quality example of its period. I love the shape of the vase, the body running into a tall neck which is slightly flared as it travels up and then finishes with a rolled bronze top.Under the ruyi border the neck is finely detailed with scrolling red, green, blue and yellow enamels down to the stiff leaves and below a pair of dragons contesting a flaming pearl amongst clouds. The dragons will have risen from the sea at the base of the vase. This vase gives a fascinating insight into Chinese mythology and their use of stylised art.The vase is 28.5 cms tall and weighs 450 g.Damage is shown on the last four photographs
