The Blurb

Gormenghast is the vast, crumbling castle to which the seventy-seventh Earl, Titus Groan, is lord and heir. Titus is expected to rule this gothic labyrinth of turrets and dungeons (and his eccentric and wayward subjects) according to strict age-old rituals, but things are changing in the castle. Titus must contend with treachery, manipulation and murder as well as his own longing for a life beyond the castle walls.

The Book

This is a Rare 1st Printing of the 1st UK hardback edition published by Eyre & Spottiswoode in 1946. Hard to find in any condition.

Presented here in the usual 2nd issue jacket. However, no evidence of the usual reprice sticker of 18s. A rare find.

A very good example of the book, with some light wear and rubbing to edges.

Boards a little faded.

Pages toned as usual.

In a Good only unclipped wrapper with the price of 15s to front flap (no reprice sticker)

Wrapper is toned and worn, with slender loss to head and foot.

Minor nicks to edges and a short spilt to head of spine.
