Here is an absolutely terrific pair of 12 inch tall antique hand decorated Japanese Satsuma moriage vases with two ear handles, gorgeous designs on both sides with immortal figures on the front and fabulous floral on with back and highly detailed border designs. As is common in early antique pairs, \"factory\" made and decorated by hand, these two vases vary slightly from each other in height, with one actually measuring 11 7/8\'s inch tall while the other measures 12 1/8 inch tall. They have the same form and design though minor details in their decoration may and do vary. I\'ve included a number of photographs from all sides in an attempt to accurately represent this marvelous old Charleston South Carolina estate sale find, in very nice condition commensurate with their age. These pieces are both marked on the bottom in red and I feel comfortable with both the lengthy provenance in Charleston from the estate where I originally purchased them and with their presentation with calling them at least early Meiji period, though they may in fact be older, though I was not able to identify the particular artist in my research. This pair of magnificent antique Japanese signed hand formed and decorated two-handled ballestar Satsuma moriage vases are a special find with their beautiful highly desirable designs front and back, and especially in such lovely age appropriate condition.
