These silverthimbles are nice examples of CharlesHorner\'s early Dorcas thimbles. They are heavilysterlingsilver clad inside and out over a steelcore.They are both marked PAT(patent) and have the English size number. Onehas \"Rd 210800\" on the band (theregistration number that dates the pattern to 1893). It\'s in thePrincess May pattern.Princess May married Queen Victoria\'s grandson in 1893 and she becameQueen in 1910 when her husband took the throne as George V.It\'s aboutan American size 9 (16 mm diameter openings).

The otherthimble is plain and is also about a size 9 (15.8 mmdiameter opening).They are illustrated on p. 4 of Identifying SteelCoredThimbles by Diane Pelham Burn. They areboth in excellent condition,in roundwith nodents, holes,repairsorotherdamage. Neither is personalized.
