DESCRIPTION:

Fine and rare pair of Russian Arts and Crafts woodcut or linocut prints by well-known graphic artist,
Alexander Iglin (1896 - 1983).

Hand-printed on medium weight cream paper. Matted.

Unsigned, but one with a Russian identification label indicating the artist, date, and other information.

One of these same images is illustrated on a Russian internet article about Alexander Iglin (see translation of page, below). Beautifully printed, probably linocuts as this was one of Iglin’s main techniques and he was known for his work in the medium, however he also made woodcuts.

Both prints are lightly spot-glued to the back of the matte at the very top edge. They are not laid down. The identification label is glued by it’s top edge to the matte only, not glued to the print.

Iglin’s linocuts and woodcuts are very rare and these are fine examples of his works.

Purchased from an old San Francisco Russian estate several years ago.AGE: Circa 1938 CONDITION:Good condition, as shown in the photos and with the following noted: No damage or restorations to the surfaces of the prints. Paper and mattes are slightly yellowed. Both prints are unframed. The colors are bright and original.Alexander Iglin
