The 12 indicates that he was the 12th born in the family.

But this basket is rare and really special. It was only sold for 7 days with this stain and with one of the family members signing the basket.

So it is rare and can become a valuable item.

This basket Measures 8-1/4\"high x 13\" diameter and will hold up to 25 lbs.

Here\'s some history about this amazing basket!

The Large Fruit or Apple Basket is a JW original...Founder Dave Longaberger\'sfather, John Wendell Longaberger.It sports a beautiful inverted bottom which is a Longaberger Trademark.When area farmers and their wives went into their gardens and orchards to pick fruits and vegetables, the weight from the ones on the top would bruise the pieces on the bottom. JW designed this basket with the inverted bottom sothe weight would be more evenly distributed, therefore preventing the bruising.They also did not have cold storage like we have today, so the inverted bottom allowed the air to circulate from the bottom toprevent all the produce fromearly rotting.Last but not least, if the basket became too heavy to carry, they could lift it up and carry it on their heads.

Today this timeless beauty can be used for:

Apples and potatoes (will hold 20 pound bags)
Rolled bath towels and other bath necessities
For tailgates, picnics, block parties and buffets, fill with large amounts of rolls, bread, chips and popcorn.
