20s CHURRO GANADO NAVAJO RUG Native American Indian blanket 101x63 Ranchfolks NR:

Offered here is a circa 1920 Navaho weaving that measures 8 feet 5inches long by 5 foot 3 incheswide or 101” x 63”. It is attributed tothe Ganado, Arizona weaving area and is in very poor condition. It was hand-woven by an expert weaver on aprimitive upright loom of all Native handshorn, handcarded and finely handspun longstaple Churro sheep wool, both weft & warp.The design in this old rug is a bold double Maltese cross type design ona fairly open field. There is a nice oldstepped meandering inner border with brown & red outer ribbon borders. The piece is being sold AS IS with .

We recently obtained this vintage Native Americantextile fresh out of a Colorado Arizonacollection just to offer you here on .It has a smooth, even weft count averaging 22 per inch and a warp countof 7 per inch. The selvage cords are allin very poor condition. Warp selvagesare 2-spiral cords and weft selvages are 2-spiral cords. The corners are all in poor condition. Thetassels are all missing. It has notbeen cleaned, is needing a cleaning & comes from a non-smoking home. This old floor rug has lots of wear, manyholes, old repairs, considerable moth damage and is generally in badcondition. Please review the many photoscarefully and ask questions before offerding.Both sides are shown in photos above.Colors are good in this piece of old American Indian art and they are: hand carded & hand blended naturalvariegated grayish brown, chocolate brown & ivory white along with handdyed aniline turkey red.
