DESCRIPTION:
We are pleased to offer this antique bisque head doll by German doll maker Max Handwerck, ca. 1900-1902.Incised at back of head \"283/29 just below the rim, MAX Handwerck Germany and 3 X\". Strung fine jointed at the shoulders, elbows, wrist, legs and knees with all fingers and toes. Repair on left hand middle finger all intact, fingers and toes accented with red lines for that realistic look. A good German doll body. Some overall wear, scuffs, paint loss for being 100 or so years old but nothing terrible. Doll has a \"wonderful\" unusual short and rounded face with big blue glass sleepy eyes that work fine, brush stroked molded painted brown brows, open mouth with upper teeth, nice blush on the face, doll has large ears. I flashed the head and do not see any cracks or hairlines, there is plaster cement inside that was used to secure the sleepy eyes on rocker as most doll people do. She wears a soft brown mohair wig that is glued on a pate that goes on the head. She wears Turn of the Century style vintage clothing, dress has lace and ribbon accents with snaps down the back. There is a slip, pantaloons, stockings and old leather shoes. This doll would be a \"Treasure\" for collection or display! I have taken plenty of photos.
