BROWN, with his name embossed in gilt on the front cover of each volume.TWO BOUND VOLUMES OF 12 ISSUES (one fiscal year) EACH: April 1922 through March 1923 (12 issues - Volume VI) and April 1926 through March 1927 (12 issues - Volume X).Published by the J.C. Penney Company, 370 Seventh Avenue, New York, NY, 1922 and 1926.Two Hardcover Volumes containing 24 Issues of THE DYNAMO, each issue with approximately 30 pages. Dark green cloth covered boards, titles in gilt on the spine of each volume, issues bound within include the covers of each issue. Each issue contains motivational, retail trade, chatty, merchandising, marketing, salesmanship, and company and employee news articles and columns. Illustrated with photographs and drawings. J.C. Penney himself wrote some of the articles, e.g. “What of the Future?” and “What the Growth of Our Business Means to Me”.The back cover of each issue has a map of the United States showing the location of current J.C. Penney stores. The maps are great fun, showing the rapid expansion of the Company between 1922 and 1927. The April 1922 issue rear cover shows the location of “312 busy stores... in thriving towns of 27 states”, and the March 1927 issue rear cover shows the location of its “773 stores” which are now located in almost every state. It was certainly the “Roaring Twenties” for J.C. Penney and Company, as illustrated on the back cover of each of these 24 issues.Condition: The hardcover volumes are scraped and rubbed along the edges and folds but remain solid and firm; the first 40 or so pages of Volume X are wavy at the upper margin, perhaps from old humidity, but are otherwise bright, clean and clear; Volume VI pages are just lightly used; the name “George C. Brown” is written on the front cover of a couple issues (as well as being embossed on the front cover of each Volume); both Volumes remain solidly bound.Rare Collection of JC PENNEY Trade Newsletters, nicely bound, previously owned by the Company’s “HAT BUYER”.
