Offering 3 Civil War letters written by Columbus Huntly member of the NY 92nd Infantry Regiment, killed in action at Chaffin\'s Farm. Letters written from Fort Anderson and New Berne N.C. to his wife. Letters contain information on family, gun he works is 1256 pounds, also needs his wife to send his discharge paper so he can collect the bounty and mentions 10,000 rebels could not take us now. Envelopes are addressed to his wife, but don\'s match letter dates, may have been more letters. Letters are nice, one has an 1 1/4\" tear on one side.
Columbus Huntly 32 years old enlisted on 11/21/1861 at Potsdam, NY as a Private. On 11/21/1861 he mustered into Company F NY 92nd Infantry Regiment. He Re-enlisted on 12/4/1863 and was killed on 9/29/1864 at Chaffin\'s Farm, VA. Promotions were Corporal and Sergeant. Also born as Humbly.
92nd NY Inf.Rgt. was also known as Second St. Lawrence County Regiment, New York Excelsior Rifle Legion, Excelsior Rifle Blues and Potsdam Regiment.
