30s TIGHT WOVEN Churro GANADO NAVAJO RUG Indian blanket Textile 44x30 Ranchfolks:

Offered here is a circa 1930s Navaho weaving that measures 4 feet 10inches long by 2 foot 10 incheswide or 58” x 34”. It is attributed tothe Ganado, Arizonaweaving area and is in very good to excellent condition. It was hand-woven by an expert weaver on aprimitive upright loom of all Native hand sh 0.orn, handcarded and very nicely handspunlong staple Churro and Churro cross sheep wool, both weft & warp. The design here is a nice double serratedconcentric diamond layout with half diamonds along the side borders. Here is a classy old Indian rug with plentyof wear left.

We recently obtained this vintage Native Americantextile on consignment just to offer you here on . It has a tight, smooth weft count averaging20 per inch and a warp count of 7 per inch.The selvage cords are: 3 sides excellentand one side good plus with 4 cord breaks.Warp selvages are 2-spiral cords and weft selvages are 2-spiralcords. The corners are: 2 excellent and 2 very good with 2 of thecorners having a broken warp creating just a little looseness. The two broken warps at the 2 corners shouldbe an easy fix. The tassels are: 3 very good to excellent and 1 good but ½missing. There are a couple of verysmall spots of light red bleed. It has not been cleaned, is fairly clean now& comes from a non-smoking home. Whitesshould brighten with a cleaning later on if desired. Both sides are even in pattern color andshown in photos above. Colors are great inthis piece of old American Indian art and they are: hand carded and blended natural brownishgrey, ivory white and black along with hand dyed aniline cardinal red andcopper brown. Complete with lazy lines,this example of vintage Native Americana is ready to head your way. (TF1)
