Item for sale is the original April 14th, 1945, edition of The Milwaukee Journal. The feature story of the day was the passing away of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. His funeral rites were underway and the nation was in a state of mourning, especially considering how far he had led the nation since his first term in office, through the greatDepression and Second World War. As the nation mourned his loss,Harry Truman would endeavor to fill shoes that seemed impossible to be filled. The paper reports his initial meetings and conferences with his battled tested military leaders.Months later he would make the monumental decision to employ the Atomic bomb effectively ending the last vestiges of WWll which was still being fought in the Pacific theatre. Truman wouldpick up the tattered remains of war-torn Europe and certain parts of Asia. This item is a great period piece; its in good shape. It\'s missing 4 pages probably a second section but has the first 14 pages, which is choc full of reports and pictures. This is a great item suitable for framing.
