The Royal Doulton Company is a world renowned English pottery company, producing collectables and tableware. It developed from a partnership between John Doulton, Martha Jones and John Watts, in 1815, with a factory at Vauxhall Walk, Lambeth, London. In 1820, the trade name changed to Doulton & Watts; and in 1853 took the name Doulton & Co, following the retirement ofJohn Watts, merging with the company founded by John's son Henry, with premises at Lambeth High Street.In 1882, Doulton purchased a small factory at Nile Street, Burslem Staffordshire, the region known as The Potteries. And the rest is History.
Representing perhaps 4 of the most popular character jugs ever produced, all three jugs were designed by the legendary Charles Noke and produced in the period 1940 to 1960. Charles Noke was Art Director at Burslem from 1914 to 1936.
