The hammer is 7 1/2 inches tall and at the head is 4 1/2 inches across.

Hammers are the tools of the working man, butlike the axe, they have been adapted and used as weapons since their inventionin time immemorial. However, unlike the axe, they fell largely out of favor asweapons for a period, replaced by the sharpened steel of spear heads, daggers,and swords. Even cultures with very few materials such as the Maori, whilestill having the club much prefer the sharp, strapping sharp pieces of animalsto wood such as the shark tooth paddle sword. The hammer resurged almostsuddenly in the advent of armor, where slashing and thrusting weapons failedagainst ring and scale, a hammer simply pulverized what was underneath.
Most hammers and flails were constructed with wooden handlesand iron or steel points of impact, often braced by metals along the shaft toprevent excessive breakage with the force of impact. Many hammers used byhorsemen were mounted on poles, while those infantry were handed were muchshorter, to facilitate the use of shielding. As well, the use of this weaponagainst heavily armored opponents was viable by the merits of how hard theyhit, sometimes knocking those in full plate off their feet where they werevulnerable, and stunning or winding those without that crumple zone ofprotection.
