Islamic Mughal India -dating from the mid 19th century.
A hand raised and seamed copper ewer - the original skilfully crimped and brazed assembly joints clearly visible.
Of baluster form, the vessel rests on a applied slightly tapering cylinder form foot - the foot rim of broad circular form. A cranked and tapering spout is positioned below the shoulder. The oval in section tubular handle spans the convex \'dummy\' or false cover to the vessel. This raised and domed feature is integral to the fabric of the vessel and as such an ornamental \'deception\'. The ewer is actual filled with water via a covered opening to the central area of the handle - the handle forming a tube-way to the water reservoir below.
Overall height - 10 5/8\", (270mm).

Condition - Very Good. No major dents and no repairs. Fine natural colour and patina.
