Northern India -dating from the 18th century.
Of cast compressed baluster form, resting on four integral paw form feet. The copper alloy casting is centrally sealed at the base by a \'sweated-in\' plug - typical of cast hollow-ware from this region, (see image 10).
The scrolling handle takes the form of a highly stylised dragon - the tapering spout is of panelled form, incorporating a central reeded embellishment. The handle incorporates the cover hinge fulcrum at the upper extreme. The cover is of domed or convex appearance, located by a recessed collet type lip - the cover is cast with a tear drop form central knop.
The two broad faces incorporate a central raised tear drop form cartouche - both of which engraved with a poppy. Repeating engraved floral designs and bands containing stylised petals embellish the remaining surface area.Overall height - 10 1/2\", (267mm).

Condition - Very Good. No dents, no cracks and no repairs - the engraved decoration \'sharp and crips\'. Fine natural colour and patina.
