A good antique french violin made circa 1890, labelled Maignant à Paris.

Good antique french violin made in the last part of 19th century, circa 1880 - 1890. The top is made of two parts of irregular grain. The back is made of a single piece of faintly flamed maple. The ribs, neck and head are of the same wood. The varnish, entirely original, is of an orange colour on a golden ground.

The violin is in an excellent condition, without any crack. On the inside back can be found the original label of \"MAIGNANT LUTHIER BREVETE PARIS\".

The violin has been entirely revised and set-up, including new rosewood and bone pegs in the baroque style, a rosewood tailpiece with bone fret, a rosewood chinrest, a Despiau bridge and Thomastik Dominant new strings set. The endpin is original.

The sound is warm, brilliant and projective, with a lot of colours : a polyvalent concert instrument that you will love.
