8846 Silver Jug


Description

An early Victorian silver baluster jug by John & George Angell. Nice panelled sides with chased decoration and scrolled handle. The interior was originally gilded, the upper areas have been polished away over the years, but some still remains to the base. The handle is jointed with spacers.The base carries the hallmarks for London 1845 and the John Angell II & George Angell makers mark. John II and George were the sons of John Angell polishing wear to the pattern around the body and loss of gilt interior from cleaning. Top joint of handle is a little loose through the pin with some movement. Bottom joint of handle has been re-glued with traces of glue around the join.
