A very fine and sweet WMF pin trays made from silver plated pewter. One has been decorated with a girl holding basket with fruits and couple cats. Othershows a boy with a dog and a bird on the hand. Greatly executed and finely detailed

The trays are marked by WMF logo andnumbers \"473\" and \"473A\"

The cards are ina good antique condition with some loss in silverplate

In 1856 the metalware manufacturing firmknown today as WMF was formed in Geislingen, a city in Germany. Daniel Stauband his new partners Friedrich and Louis Schweizer began the production of metal goods under the name Straub and Schweizer. At this time, Wurtemberg was already a major metalworking industrial area. By 1881 Daniel Straub had retired as director of the firm and was succeeded by Carl Haegele, formerly of A.Ritter & Co., in 1883 they employed over five hundred workers. In 1889 they purchased the firm of Klumpp & Co., whose specialty was the production of electrotype bronze statues and busts with copper-deposited coating. By 1900 WMF was a world leader in industrial metalwork production with shops and show rooms all over Europe. Their firm produced classic Biedermeier and Rococo styles and very popular Jugendstil / Art Nouveau designs and new twentieth-century German designs. In 1900 they employed 3500 workers and operated factories in several German and European cities.
