DESCRIPTION: Original ox blood red, painted child\'s Governor Carver chair. Originals are estimated between 1680-1710 according to the style of the vertical members in the back and the detail of the turned front stretcher. I am not an expert on this period or the reproductions that could be around. Buyer should authenticate this as an original or a \"colonial revival\" reproduction. I do not warrant either..... but would love to know more about it.
I will be happy to email more picture (close ups) of particular features upon request.
History: It came from a barn sale in Mass. sometime in the 1960\'s. It has been hanging on a peg in our home ever since.
MEASUREMENTS: 28.5\" HIGH AT THE BACK. 16.5\" WIDE AT THE FRONT AND 14\" HIGH AT THE SEAT.
CONDITION: The wood is in very good to excellent condition for the age. The oak splint seat has some wear to one side, but is original (same painted finish as wood chair).
