Avery beautiful mid 19th century Frenchsterling silver travelling inkwell of superb quality of manufacture with finely chased cover and crest, and cut glass body with concave panelling, fully hallmarked with head of Minerva and maker\'s mark:AUCOC A with stamp of a cockerel for Aucoc Aine who specialised in top class travelling accessories and fittedboxes, circa 1840.

Excellent antique condition,no nasty dents, splits or repairs, and no chips to the glass, only usual scratches consistent with age and use. A truly beautiful period inkwell of superb gauge of silver.8.6cm x 4.3cm (3 3/8\" x 1.55\") and 3.8cm deep (1 4/8\") Weight:268 grams. A serious contender forthe best ofcollections.
