Of traditional form, with raised prow and hook handle, enamelled with blue, green, red and white stylised foliage, the rim with light blue borders, the handle markedTsarskoye Selo, 1898.Marked inside the bowl with dates and place names (see below):

Lot note:
It appears that this kovsh may be related to Gran Duke Boris Vladimirovich. The inscriptions in Cyrillic inside the kovsh coincide with the dates and places visited during his world tour between Jan 1902 and October 1902 and his joining theTzar´s army in 1903 to fight in the Russo-Japanese war.
