THIS WONDERFUL LADIES SILVER \'VISITING\' PURSE REPRESENTS THE HEIGHT OF SOCIAL ELEGANCE IN POST EDWARDIAN TIMES.
This super large purse is the largest we have ever had.
THIS RECTANGULAR SHAPED PURSE NARROWS IN WIDTH FROM BOTTOM TO TOP. BOTH THE BODY AND TOP HAVE FOLIATE ENGRAVED PANELS, THE BODY PANEL HAS A VACANT SHIELD SHAPED CARTOUCHE TO THE CENTRE. THE PANELS ARE BOARDERED WITH A PRETTY EMBOSSED BANDED PATTERN. ABOVE THE TOP PANEL ON THE FRONT WE HAVE THE FULL HALLMARKS FOR BIRMINGHAM 1916.
THE SIDDES OF THE PURSE ARE PLAIN SURFACED. THE REVERSE OF THE PURSE IS THE SAME AS THE FRONT EXCEPT NO CARTOUCHE HERE AND ONLY PART HALLMARK SEQUENCE ABOVE TOP PANEL
THE PURSE HAS A SPRING LOADED FASTENER CATCH TO THE TOP. THERE\'S A SILVER CABLE LINK CHATELAINE CHAIN WITH A ROUND FINGER RING AT THE TOP. INSIDE THE PURSE THERE\'S A TRIPLE COMPARTMENT INTERIOR MADE OF MID BROWN LEATHER
The purse was fully English Hallmarked for Sterling Silver in BIRMINGHAM in 1916, (Lion Passant for Sterling Silver, Anchor for Birmingham assay office and low case date letter \'r\' for 1916).Maker\'s markis \'F.D.L.\'
THIS IS A FULLY AUTHENTICATED DATED PIECE OF SILVER, APURSE 99 YEARS OLD AND INSUPERB CONDITION TOO!!
Yes, thispiece is in trully excellent condition, no dints, indents, bumps or scratches at all , having all immaculatewell polishedsurfaces throughout. Theinternal LEATHER lining is in perfect order with no damage or blemish to detract at all.
