A VERY FINE CHINESE ARCHAISTIC GOLD AND SILVER INLAID BRONZE HU VASE 18TH/19THC:

This large and heavy bronze vase is an exceptional example of such types produced within the Qing dynasty. The red patina throughout the piece is designed to imitate natural corrosive features of archaic bronze vessels, while the detailing continues this theme with patterns and stylistic motifs reminiscent of archaic Chinese decoration.
Condition - The bronze is in good condition for its age with no major damage or restoration. However, at one time the bronze was used as a lamp, as a result, there are two small holes to the base of the vase which have been restored and filled (one at the side of the base and one at the centre of the base - please refer to the photographs to see details of this) The gold and silver inlay is not complete and the decoration shows much signs of use and age related wear - it\'s missing in some areas and too dirty in others to become entirely visible. The gilt and silver areas that are most prominent have been cleaned to pronounce their glow and assistance to the overall design. Some areas of the gilt and silver have rubbed where the bronze beneath has become visible. There are surfaces scratches and signs of age related wear throughout, there\'s a small shallow dent to one side of the body of the bronze, the whole inside appears to have been lacquered or painted (please scroll down to see extra photographs)
