A Very Sweet Art Nouveau 9ct Gold, Garnet & Seed Pearl Brooch. Chester 1903:

This is a really sweet Art Nouveau brooch set with a centralgarnet flanked by seed pearls. The piece is fully hallmarked for the Chesterassay office, and I believe the date is 1902 or 1903.

The piece is very typical of the period; it measuresapproximately 38mm in length and has a total weight of 1.35g. It is in niceoverall condition, but, unfortunately one of the seed pearls has gone astray(please see photos), but it is not overly obvious when being worn. The fixing pin is of base metal or silver, this was commonly done as gold is a soft metal.

The full set of Chester hallmarks is still crisp and clear.

It comes in its original retail box for S.S. Burlingham ofKings Lynn, it is a little tatty in places but the catch works well and itshuts with a pleasant snap.
