Fine, rare, antique circa 1795, probably earlier, copperplate handcolored map, titled A Map of the Discoveries made by Capts Cook & Clerke in the years 1778 & 1779 between Eastern Coast of Asia and the Western Coats of North America when they attempted to Navigate the North sea , also Mr. Kearn's discoveries to the North westward of Hudson's Bay. Interesting map showing Captain Cook's travels, with Sandwich Isles, with Owhyhee there, now called Hawaii, many interesting area,s such as Land see by the Spaniards in North America, New Albion, California in the lower peninsula, named Native Indian tribes, Niphon, now Japan , Parts Unknown, Cooper Indians, (this probably meant Copper Indians), and much more. Many fascianting areas, very detailed period map. The map is in nice condition, with the paper somewhat close at upper right hand side, but no map loss, if framed would be fine. Beautifully detailed and attractive period map of this area at this time, with gorgeous delicate antique handcoloring. Printed on fine period handmade thick paper, no printing on reverse.
