This sale is for a antique 1800\'s hand forged mechanical spring loaded fish hook trap found in a very early tackle box. The box contained many lures from the 1800\'s some of which I have for sale in my other listings. I do not see any makers markings or name on the hook. The trap will set and uses a flat spring design. The spring is strong and the trap will definitely get you if not very careful. Selling as found and uncleaned with original patina. Very early piece of fishing history and an awesome addition to any collection. Please excuse the white streaks from camera glare. If I\'ve missed anything or if you have any questions, just let me know. I revised the listing and have added the last three new photos of how the trap actually sets. When I first listed the trap I didn\'t realize how to actually set it. I kept looking at it and was thinking that the flattened long pin near the line tie had something to do with the latch. It actually slides through the box on the spring and sticks into the notch in the upper striking hook and sets the trap. When the fisherman jerks the line it pulls the pin out of the notch and springs the trap driving the striking hook into the fish. Thanks for looking and GOOD FISHING.
