Description

Antique early 18th Century extremely rare Georgian Paul de Lamerie Solid Silver snuffer / wick trimmer tray on four spreading feet, heavy gauge, scroll leaf capped handle and reeded borders. Snuffer trays were used for resting wick trimmers and candle snuffers on. Hallmarked English silver (925 Sterling), London, year 1732 (R), Maker\'s mark Crowned P.L (Paul de Lamerie, please follow the link). Paul de Lamerie is the most highly acclaimed Huguenot silversmith of all times, renowed for his technical proficiency and innovative Rococo design forms, although his rare early works such this snuffer tray were simple and not highly decorated. Today de Lamerie pieces are the most extraordinary and recognized works of any silver collection, the most of them are prized possessions of important Museums like Victoria & Albert Museum of London, Metropolitan Museum of New York, Royal Museum of Scotland, London\'s Goldsmith\'s Company and many others.
