Description Payment & Shipping Description

Antique 18th Century rare Georgian Solid Silver lidded tankard, of baluster form, with applied girdle, domed cover, double scroll handle with heart-shaped terminal, the body profusely chased and engraved all over with foliate scrolls and flowers, one side bearing a memorial inscription: "This Tankard Was Given by Tatton Sykes Esq (...) Crynoline, 1850", the other side engraved with initials. The chasing is Victorian, contemporary to the inscription, but it appears to be particularly crisp and fine.

Each part is Hallmarked English Silver (925 standard), Newcastle, year 1790's (letter rubbed), Maker's mark I.L (John Langlands II).
