ANTIQUE 19TH CENTURY ISLAMIC BRASS/COPPER \'DALLAH\' BEDOUIN TEA POT, W/LEATHER WRAPPED HANDLE, STAMPED DECORATIVE SIDEWALL MOTIF, FANCY TOOLED HINGE(MISSING BRASS FINIAL)MIDDLE EAST(Circa 1870-1895)This early and quite extraordinary mid-to-late 19th Century period, authentic, hand-crafted Middle Eastern \'Dallah\' Bedouin tribal brass and copper Islamic tea pot, with characteristic dagger-shaped spout, rare leather wrapped handle and stamped decorative motif on the vessel\'s sidewalls, is in relatively well-preserved overall antique condition. It appears to be missing its attached brass finial, which looks to have broken away and to have been separated from the rest of the pot. Nevertheless, the untouched, unmolested and \'as-found\' surface of this 19th century Middle Eastern brass tea pot is what is truly extraordinary and compelling, even if it\'s not perhaps 100% complete. It remains unmolested, dusty, dirty and otherwise untouched. The leather corded rawhide wrapped leather handle is extraordinary and largely intact. The hinge mechanism holding the lid to the vessel\'s body is also very detailed and fashioned with real metal-working skill and experience. The decorative Islamic stamped decoration, in the form of reverse linear pyramids, display the symmetry and repeated motifs found in Islamic art. This literally appears to be an \'unearthed\' Islamic art artifact that has not been cleaned or even dusted by anyone. It was clearly stored away for many, many years and neglected or otherwise forgotten, until now. Extraordinary and wonderfully authentic. For those who prefer their antiques and cultural artifacts unbastardized by the unmerited and amateurish \'improvements\' made by other \'less-than-professional\' amateur museum curators, then this 19th century Islamic brass and copper vessel, escaped their view and touch. It remains, largely as it always was. 100% \'as-found\' and untouched. Extraordinary and an important discovery of an unmolested cultural artifact from the early Islamic world.
DIMENSIONS:10½\" Width x 8½\" Height x 6\" Depth
CONDITION:Good/Very Good overall antique condition. The vessel is missing its top brass finial on top of the hinged lid. Otherwise, it is complete. There is also a small push or ding on the lower sidewall near the base the size of a dime. The tea pot remains in its original, \'as-found\' condition.(*Please scroll down to view enlarged photos below. Thank you.)
