Description:

A very finely painted antique 19th Century Chinese ancestor portrait painting, gouache on fine laid paper, depicting a 1st Rank Civil official. He is wearing a formal robe with \'Crane\' rank badge, a headdress, a long gold and jade necklace, and is seated upon a throne chair draped with a tiger skin, demonstrably a man of high status and importance.

The painting is well executed with supreme detail, highlighted using fine bright colours. It has been sympathetically mounted and framed behind glass, so as to exhibit the painting to its best.

Framed: 79 cm x 46 cm or 31 inches x 16 1/8 inches

Aperture: 53.5 cm x 30 cm or 21 inches x 11 3/4 inches

Condition:

The painting is in good condition, with fine bright colours. There is some craqueluer to the paint surface where the painting has been previously rolled or folded, but the paint surface remains stable. The frame is strong. Please see the images provided which complement this description.
