Description:

An antique 19th Century late Qing period Chinese hardwood statue of Guanyin, very finely hand carved to depict the Goddess Guanyin standing with one foot resting on the head of a water dragon, and the other on a lotus flower. She is draped in long flowing robes and holds a scroll in her right hand.

She retains a sumptuous deep red stain which has become polished and thinned at the more prominent points over the years.The age of the carving is unknown, but is thought to be late 19th Century.

Condition:

In good antique condition, without serious damage or restoration. There is a split to the wood best seen from the base, and a very fine short split to the front of the body running to the right of her hand, and a tiny historic chip to the top of her headdress.
