Antique 19th Century German Solid Silver figural table ornament modelled as a female fishmonger, standing on a large shaped-oval base decorated with flowers, the large sculpture is very large and beautifully modelled, the right hand holding an eel, pull-off head, the base is also applied with barrels containing fish and a tray with a sliced tuna.The figure is one of the largest, most unusual and better made amongst the many produced in Hanau in the late 19th century.The piece is German silver (900+ standard), made in Hanau, pseudo mark for Schleissner & Sohne, the most important Hanau silversmith specializing in Renaissance and Baroque revival pieces. This is probably a piece inspired by the German 17th century novelty cup and covers and it dates to 1880\'s.
