Up for sale is this antique oil painting. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This painting depicts the majestic landscape of the Yosemite Valley. The painting is on canvas, which was laid to board. The board measures approximately 23 3/16 inches by 12 inches. The visible art area is slightly smaller. The painting is housed in a vintage, gold-finished wooden frame that measures approximately 25 15/16 inches by 14 9/16 inches. Unpacked, this piece weighs about 2 pounds 5.2 ounces. This painting would make a great addition to a collection of California fine art.Identification
This vintage painting is unsigned. However, based on my extensive experience in owning many signed Joseph John Englehart paintings over the years, it is attributed to Englehart. This is based on the brush strokes, paint colors, and a general, overall Englehart look. He commonly produced unsigned paintings, as well as paintings signed with various pseudonyms. Joseph John Englehart (1867-1915) is a listed artist with listings in Edan Hughes' Artists in California 1786-1940 and on AskART. Per Hughes, Englehart was born in Chicago in 1867. During the 1880s and 1890s, he lived in Alameda, California, with a studio in San Francisco. He also painted in Washington and Oregon around the turn of the twentieth century. By 1910, Englehart was residing in Alameda again. He passed away in Oakland in 1915.Condition
This painting looks very good overall. It is ready to hang and enjoy. It has some areas of very fine craquelure. As found, the canvas was laid to board. The painting is clean, and thus it appears to have been cleaned at some point. The frame has light finish wear. Before merchandise is shipped to a California address (or picked up or delivered within California), a sales tax of 8% will be collected, unless the buyer provides a valid California resale certificate form by mail (or in person, in the case of pick up or delivery). The resale certificate must be properly filled out in accordance with California Board of Equalization regulations. No exceptions. 2. Payments
The buyer must prepay before merchandise is released. Paypal payments over $250 will only be accepted if delivery is to an address with a confirmed status. A signature will be required for delivery if the total Paypal payment for merchandise inside the parcel is greater than $250. Payments must be received within three days of the end of the listing, unless prior arrangements have been made. 3. Shipping and Handling
Good packaging is included; double-boxing is not included. Framed art will not be shipped unframed. The seller typically ships on Mondays and Thursdays, unless a holiday or special circumstance precludes it. If payment is via Paypal, the merchandise will be shipped on the seller's next shipping day after payment clears. The seller is not responsible for the transit time once the merchandise has been accepted by the shipping carrier. Economy shipping within the U.S. includes delivery to a physical address via an economy shipping method of the seller's choice. At the discretion of the seller, a faster shipping method may be utilized at no additional cost to the buyer. If the buyer prefers a different shipping method other than that chosen by the seller, or if delivery is to a post office box, additional shipping and handling costs may be required. In the above instances, the seller is happy to provide shipping quotes upon request. If international shipping is available, this will be indicated on the "Shipping and Payments" tab.
