This is a beautiful antique Sarreguemines porcelain inkwell, from France. The base of thisinkwell is hand-painted with lovely cartouches, flowers and geometric designs inblue, ochre, and black. It measures 8 inches wide by 5 inches wide by 2 7/8 inches high. This sethaswells that are attached to the tray andtwo removeable wellsthat insert to the attached ones on the base.Each has a hand painted under edge design, and a decorative ochre line on the top.Thereshould belids to the \"ink\"wells,whichare missing. I\'m not sure if one of the \"ink\" wells was originally black or changed color when the ink wasadded. Overall, there is crazing due to the age, and some staining inside the removeable wells and on the underside of the base; please see photos. The underside is marked with an 1850-1920 Sarreguemines mark.There was an inkwell just like this one, but had the lids, was listed and sold for over $800. I have pricedthis one for far less, even taking the missing parts into account. A great price for a beautiful piece!
