A VERY RARE ANTIQUE
French Vincenti & Cie Medaille D\'Argent
Brass Mercury Pendulum Clock Circa 1860\'s
This is an INCREDIBLE find. An absolutely beautiful piece of time-piece artwork. The SOLID brass is polished and looks amazing for being well over a 150 years old! \"Made in France\" this Mercury Pendulum Mantle clock has all of the markings stamped in and showing it to be made by Jean \"Vincenti & Company\". It also has the Silver Medal insignia showing it won a Silver Medal in 1855. That\'s why this is called an \"1855 Clock\". Following is an excerptfrom a Clock Expert about this clock model:

\"Vincenti & Cie (Vincenti & Co.) was a Paris clockmaker founded before 1834 by Jean Vincenti. It went out of business in about 1870. The mark on your clock indicates that the company won a silver medal (“medaille d’argent\") at the 1855 Universal Exposition in Paris—which means your clock was made after 1855. Vincenti & Cie clocks sell for a wide range of prices, from the low hundreds into the tens of thousands. An expert has to look at your clock in person and can estimate its age by its works.\"
Condition: We can get it to run for a couple of minutes and all of the movements work along with the light \"bong chime\" at the appropriate hour and half hour. It obviously needs to be looked at by a professional and adjusted to work properly. Thus we are selling this \"AS IS\". The BACK glass door has a crack all the way through, but is solid in the casing. (Easy enough to replace if so desired) Also the bottom right side back corner has chipped glass, though not as noticeable. The finish on all of the brass is AMAZING. Polished to a nice shine it\'s in incredible condition and overall this clock LOOKS beautiful as it is. There\'s a cotter pin piece in the front that holds on to the plate covering the hour & minute hands. We\'re not sure if this is original to the clock or not. Typicallythese are much smaller, but we didn\'t want to change it in case this WAS the original cotter pin.The front door also sticks just a little, but again, it just needs a minor adjustment on the post screws by an expert.Other than that... as you can see in the photos this is a real nice piece.
