Dainty set of six British hallmarked little silver tea/coffee spoons, all spoonsbowls stems are in great condition and come within original fitted presentationbox which is in good condition with obviously a few marks of wear on theoutside commensurate with age. The spoons are fully hallmarked for Sheffield1896 and have the maker’s mark TB&S which I believe to be Thomas Bradbury& Son (see some background history to this silversmith below). Spoons measure approx. 3¼ inches. Bowlsmeasure approx. 1 inch x ¾ of an inch and are monogrammed with a ‘J’ in fancyscript. Would make a superb gift for someone with the initial J The silverspoons weigh in total 34 grams. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING.........Thomas Bradbury & Son history:-
The business traces its origin to Fenton, Creswick& Co, a partnership involving Matthew Fenton (an apprentice of Thomas Law),Richard Creswick and William Watson. They were active as silversmiths andSheffield platers and were among the first to enter their mark at the SheffieldAssay Office in 1773.

Later, Thomas Bradbury II (son of Thomas Bradbury I) and William Watson (nephewof Thomas Watson) were admitted to the partnership.
In 1831 William Watson retired and the business was continued by Bradburys(Thomas I and II) under the style of Thomas Bradbury & Son.
The firm was active at Arundel Street, Sheffield with London showroom at 12Gough Square, Fleet Street.
In 1855 the firm changed its name to Thomas Bradbury & Sons, under thepartnership of Joseph and Edward Bradbury (sons of Thomas Bradbury II).
In 1877 the partners were Thomas Bradbury III (brother of Joseph Bradbury) andJohn Sutherland Henderson.
The partnership was dissolved in 1888 and the firm was managed by Walton TurnerBradbury, Joseph Bradbury Jr and Frederick Bradbury (sons of Joseph BradburySr). Frederick Bradbury is the author of the fundamental book \"AHistory of Old Sheffield Plate\".
The business was converted into a limited liability company in 1905, under thestyle Thomas Bradbury & Sons Ltd.
The company closed its activity in 1943 and dies and tooling were bought byAtkin Brothers.CHRONOLOGY:
