Large antique Japanese lacquered writing box from the Meiji Period, mid 1800\'s to early 1900\'s, in good condition but could use some restoration.One of the two writing flaps is missing and the other has come loose. The is some minor scuffing and loss of lacquer along the edges and corners.The drawer, on the lower left side of the box, is a bit sticky for the first inch or two and then pulls out with ease ( there is a pin that must be pulled up in order to pull out the drawer).Inside the drawer are compartments, two boxes and a mirror. The box is quite large; 18 1/2\" long x 10 1/2\" deep x 7 1/2\" high. It weighs 10 lbs 11 oz.Stunning picture on the lid of two pheasants and a weeping cherry tree by a stream.
