A beautiful antique hand painted Russian Orthodox icon of Jesus Christ, late 19th century, hand painted on wooden board. A great quality painting in an academic classic Russian Orthodox iconography style. Great attention to detail. The icon is in very good antique condition for it\'s age, with no evidence of damage or restoration. It looks like at some point it has been under the riza or metal covering, so there are scratches and losses to the paint around the head of the Christ consistent with the previous coverings and halo. It has not been cleaned or revarnished. Signed in old Slavonic language in the upper corners. Covered with original velvet cloth on the back.Please see images for details. Will look beautifully displayed. An interesting andauthentic piece of Russian Christian Orthodox religious art. Will make a great addition to any serious collection.
