Russian Icon with THECRUCIFIX, VIRGIN MARY, ST. NICHOLAS, ST. GEORGE, ST. MICHAEL\"

Medium:Egg tempera on the wood panel.Also with the bead-workcovering margins, applied with faux seed pearls and faux mother of pearls and precious faux jewelry.

Size:height12 1/4inches; width 10 1/4 inches[31 cm x 26 cm]; thickness of the panel 3/4 inch [2 cm]

Condition: Good and stable state of preservation typical for the antique 19th Century Russian Icon. Two insert splints on the back. The bead-work covering is in stable condition, but some beads and jewelry are missing. See photographs.

Important provenance:This icon is from the Estate of the Duchess of Caylus, Ludmila Progery ( the dynasty of the Duke of Caylus, d 1679) The Duchess was the niece of the Russian artist Alexandre Yevgenyevich Iacovleff (Russian-French, 1887-1938). Good friends andneighborsof the Duchess home in Tuxedo, New York, The Callvery family, were a Distant relatives of Abraham Lincoln.
