We adore any kind of PINK porcelainand were so pleased to have found this lovely antique hand-painted covered cup and saucer from the famous Russian Kuznetsov Factory,which we found in a Moscow antique shop.The entire complex is about 6 1/2 inches high. The Kuznetsov stamp with the double-headed eagle is on the bottom of the saucer and the cup itself (see photo).
The Kuznetsov Porcelain Factory was renown in Russia up to the time of the Revolution when it was nationalized in 1918. It was founded in 1832 and prospered throughout the 19th century, becoming the most famous factory after the Imperial Porcelain Factory and winning a Grand Prix prize in the 1900 World Paris Exhibition. They became purveyors of the Imperial Court and were allowed to have their products carry the Russian State Emblem.
