ANTIQUE (c.1881) MILLER FIGURAL LAMP w/ RARE ORIGINAL BASE WEIGHT- GIRL & CAT?:
$75.00

WELCOME!

This sale is for an antique oil lamp (c.1881) in very good to excellent condition. The colors and images onour lamps are shown in the photos. Our lamps are genuine antiques. We simply restore their original beauty where we can.

This lamp by itself stands at 14.25\" tall and weighs just under 5lbs.! The girl is bottle feeding a large cat(?)without any bottle and that is just what the picture shows her doing in the \"EDWARD MILLER & CO, ILLUSTRATED CATALOGUE of BRONZED, DECORATED and REAL BRONZE LAMPS and CIGAR LIGHTERS, MERIDEN CONN., USA\" dated 1881 on page 33 lamp #73.

There is a tiny ding on the lip of the collar skirt and another very tiny ding on the top edge of the collar. The latter wouldn\'t show when a burner is in place. (see pics).

I think she looks pretty fantastic at over 135 years old, don\'t you? I think it\'s safe to presume her mind is just a bit off though... she is bottle feeding a full grown cat... withouta bottle! --- (Ba-doom, pssss)

{Vaudevillian sound effect after a bad joke}

Okay, it\'s late and I\'m off to bed! G\'night!

We have been criticized for restoring our many types and styles of antique oil lamps with being told it devalues them. Well, let me say this... it isn\'t the value we are after so much as it is trying to allow our future generations the opportunity to see, first hand, just what these lamps looked like way back in the day when our grandfathers and great grandfathers were our age.

Preserving these antiques restores the emotional value for our future generations. How much is that worth? By leaving them, as those whocondemned our practices would prefer,to decay (and they do, believe me) thenquite a fewwouldn\'t lastbeyond this generation. I challenge their morals for being so selfish as to deny our future generationsof such anopportunityfor the purpose ofprofiting while the getting\'s good. Sooo...just for spite we reduced our prices so much so that anyone can afford a qualitypiece of history for their kids or grand-kids or even the neighbor\'s kids down the block!

END OF MY MOMENT, SORRY BUT I... OH WELL... NOBODY READS THIS STUFF ANYWAY.
