I HAVE FOR SALE THIS WONDERFUL LARGE PLATE/BOWL BY G. L. ASHWORTH AND BROTHERS, HANLEY. VICTORIAN c1865. SUCH GREAT VIBRANT COLOURS AND LOTS OF GILT. THE BACK MARK IS SLIGHTLY BLURRED BUT READS REAL IRONSTONE CHINA, G L ASHWORTH AND BROS HANLEY AND IS THE COMPANY\'S BELT MARK. IMPRESSED ON THE BACK READS REAL IRONSTONE CHINA AND WRITTEN IN RED B/1581 WHICH MUST BE THE PATTERN NUMBER. AROUND THE GREEN IS AN ORIENTAL PATTERN AND THE CENTRE HAS A LION AND MOTTO WHICH READS \'CRESCAT DEO PROMOTORE\'. THIS TRANSLATES TO \'LET HIM PROSPER UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF GOD\' OR \'MAY HE PROSPER UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF GOD\'. THIS MOTTO IS ALSO THE MOTTO FOR SURNAME WILLANS.

MEASURES 10 3/8\" DIAMETER AND 1 1/2\" HIGH. WEIGHS 771g UNWRAPPED.

CONDITION - THE PLATE/BOWL IS IN LOVELY CONDITION WITH NO DAMAGE. STILL HAS A RING TO IT. PLEASE SEE LAST PHOTO WHERE YOU CAN SEE A SMALL DOT TO THE LEFT OF THE MOTTO, THIS HAS BEEN DONE DURING FIRING AND IS NOT DAMAGE.
