African headrest, LUBA, HEMBA tribe, D.R. Congo TRIBAL ART:
$160.00

A beautiful African headrest of the LUBA tribe from Congo. It has a beautiful patina and normal traces of wear and tear. It is carved from one piece of wood. It depicts a man kneeling and holding a spear. He has a typical Luba hairdo. The headrest is widely used by women to protect their hairdo. When they lie on the support with their neck there is no weight on the hair which allows the hairdo to stay intact.

Good condition, with possible traces of desiccation and wear and tear. Beautiful brown patina. Have a good look at the pictures.
