Amazing Navajo Alvin Yellowhorse 2-horned Kachina Pendant:
An amazing inlaid 2-horned Kachina sterling silver pendant by multiple award winning Navajo silversmith Alvin Yellowhorse, who learned silverwork at an early age from his father, Frank Yellowhorse, mastering the techniques of channel inlay. He is also credited for originating another style of inlay called "corn row wave inlay", a very time consuming procedure. Alvin's work can be found in top notch galleries and his work was featured in SMITHSONIAN MAGAZINE, August 1999. He has work each year at Indian Market, Santa Fe, where he has won several blue ribbons, as well as the annual Heard Museum competition. This pendant is a spectacular example of his meticulous inlay work, composed of coral, sugalite and turquoise inlays, with beautiful crimped handmade silver bezeling, the signature of his work. This pendant is hallmarked with his horse symbol and "Alvin Yellowhorse" in script, and "Sterling". It is 2 segments with a hinge between the head and body and measures 3" X 2", weight is 34 grams. Excellent vintage condition.
