Offering an authentic American 19th century watercolor portrait of a young woman in profile. The quality of the portrait is outstanding and the woman is quite beautiful. This may be a mourning or posthumous portrait due to the fact that she is holding a rose as referred to in the article in Antiques and Fine Art magazine , Autumn 2016, page 144: Posthumous Portraiture in America. There is a minimum of toning and the condition is quite good. Framed in an old heavily worn lemon silver frame with period glass. Overall size with frame is: 9\" x 11-1/2\".
