Mughal Islamic metalwork -dating from the 18th century.
A baluster form bronze hookah, the base resting on a broad and flared circular foot. The waisted neck incorporates a broad central flange, with small baluster ring below. The rim at the opening is finished with a chiseled gadrooning - the neck incorporates stylised poppy seed cases.
The remaining surface area is also finished with chiseled decoration - the decoration includes scrolling floral designs and bands of stylised lancet form petals.
This good example incorporates many similarities in terms of age, decoration and region of origin to a brass betel spittoon, (item #161586160146), that I also currently offering for sale.
Overall height - 6 3/4\" (172mm).

Condition - Very Good. No dents or repairs. Fine natural colour and patina.
