A Charming and Unusual Edwardian Silver Pin Cushion in the Shape of a Camel, 1905

This delightful little sterling silver dromedary has a black velvet covered pincushion for a hump.

The silver frame is a wonderfully realistic camel, standing erect and patiently waiting for his load to be put in place.

The centre cushion is held in place by a raised frame designed to hold a number of long hat pins.

The object was made by the Birmingham firm of Adie and Lovekin.

If there is a pin cushion collector or a camel fancier in your life, this charming object would make a wonderful gift.

Marked: Assayed on one side of the camel, near the pincushion opening, for Sterling, Birmingham, 1905. Two assays for Birmingham, 1905 on one vertical bar of the pin rack. Body also has the makers\' mark for Adie & Lovekin Ltd. The firm of silversmiths operated in Birmingham between 1890-1910.

Measures: Dimensions: 3 1/4" H x 1 1/2" W x 3 " L .

Excellent condition: No damage. Wear to the pincushion, which may have had the fabric replaced at some point, long ago. Minor patination commensurate with age.
