Indian - dating from the early 19th century.
The large stylised Hamsa bird finial no doubt once adorned the upper extreme of a larger pedestal type Hindu lamp. Cast using the \'lost wax\' process, the Hamsa is hand tooled and finished - see images 8 & 9.
The raised circular base centrally incorporates the integral supporting shaft to the finial - the shaft rises through a series of collars and a central baluster embellishment to the finial above. The base incorporates five teardrop form oil reservoirs - the rim is of scalloped appearance.Overall height - 5 1/4\" (140mm).
Condition - Very Good. Minor bumps and bruises, (consistent with genuine age and usage). No repairs. Fine natural colour and patina.
