An attractive, vibrant necklace, restrung from genuine ancient Near Eastern beads, dating to the 2nd millennium BC.
The necklace is composed of beautiful blue, white and red carnelian beads, restrung on catgut.
These beautiful beads were produced by a mysterious civilisation in Bactria (modern Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and northern Afghanistan) during the later 3rd – early 2nd millennium BC. We know very little of this enigmatic society, yet the complex style of their art and architecture attests to the existence of a highly developed civilisation, which clearly maintained links with the flourishing cities of Elam and the Mesopotamian plains to the west.
Length of necklace: 30 inches.
Condition: Excellent, beads intact and of high quality, restrung with catgut.
